On Thursday, 19 April 2012, the Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Austria, Jan Kickert and the Austrian Ambassador in Kosovo, Johann Brieger, visited the office of Lëvizja VETËVENDOSJE! They were received by Albin Kurti, Leader, Shpend Ahmeti, First Deputy Leader and Xhelal Sveçla, Secretary for External Relations.
In the meeting, the delegation of Lëvizja VETËVENDOSJE! presented the opinions of Lëvizja VETËVENDOSJE! regarding the political and economic situation in Kosovo and the region.
Albin Kurti emphasized Lëvizja VETËVENDOSJE!’s argument that Serbia’s hegemonic politics toward Kosova has not changed, and this is proven by the attacks by Serbia’s structures on Kosova’s citizens. He asked for additional international pressure on Serbia.
The leaders of VETËVENDOSJE! said that EU institutions and member states should bear in mind in their relations with Serbia, that this state is maintaining hostile, illegal and criminal structures in Kosova, which most recently implemented a terrorist act, in which Selver Haradinaj lost his life and other members of his family were injured, while before this, two police and four citizens of the Republic of Kosovo were arrested. In addition, they talked about the political and socio-economic situation.
Austrian diplomats expressed their support for the state of Kosova and for reforms that will be undertaken in European integration. Lëvizja VETËVENDOSJE! asked that friendly states focus on economic development, and developing democracy and justice, and not waste all their energy on short term stability.
